The Cottontown Chorus places 14th in the world
The 3 times British Barbershop Chorus Champions, The Cottontown Chorus from Bolton, were thrilled to place 14th at the 2010 International Barbershop Chorus finals in Philadelphia, USA. They competed against 26 other world class choruses from the USA and Canada. In a closely fought contest, the UK representatives under the Musical Direction of The Vocal Group founder Neil Firth, became the first British chorus to rank in the top 10 for the quality of their singing.
A delighted Neil said ‘We try and raise the bar every time we perform as a chorus and this achievement makes all the hard work worthwhile. To come 14th in the world when there are over 800 choruses in the USA and Canada is amazing!’
The chorus is due to perform in a number of shows throughout the year, before starting preparations for next year’s British Championships.
