Heartbeat ladies choir take bronze
Neil Firth, founder of The Vocal Group and Musical Director of British Chorus Champions Cottontown Chorus from Bolton, was recently invited to work with Heartbeat, a ladies barbershop chorus from Marple near Stockport, Cheshire. He had just 6 short weeks to bring together the talent of 45 female voices and prepare them for their national championship.
The event took place over the weekend of 7-9 May 2010 at the Sage in Gateshead and saw 27 choruses compete from all over the UK and The Netherlands. Heartbeat, under Neil’s Musical Direction, were absolutely thrilled and delighted to become the Mid-Size Chorus Champions (for number of singers from 31-60) and overall 3rd place bronze medallists attaining not only their own highest score, but also becoming the highest scoring bronze medallists ever in the UK.
